What is a category?

Categories sit inside super categories and group related items together. For example, a Food super category might contain Burgers, Salads, and Sandwiches categories. Staff tap a category on the POS to see all items inside it.

How to create a category

1. Go to Catalog then the Categories tab.
2. Enter the category name.
3. Select the Super Category this category belongs to from the dropdown — this is required.
4. Select a Tax Class.
5. Click Add Category & Setup.
6. Optionally add an image and customize display settings on the next screen.

How to assign a category to a different super category

1. Open the category from the Categories tab.
2. Change the Super Category dropdown to the new parent.
3. Click Save. The category moves immediately and all items inside it move with it.

How to enable coursing for a category

1. Open the category and click Additional Settings.
2. Check Enable Course and Enable Position.
3. Click Save. All items in this category will prompt for course and position when ordered.
